FASHION
With a mother who majored in Fashion Merchandising, I was raised with the utmost respect for fashion and its importance in our everyday lives. My mother taught me the value of always dressing my best and expressing myself through my clothing. I have learned that fashion does not have to be a superficial, shallow interest. If you shop intentionally, fashion can become creative, artistic, money-conscious, uplifting, and even other-focused or philanthropic.
INTERIOR DESIGN
My love for interior design and decorating was mostly stirred by my desire to create a beautiful place for my husband and me to call home. I grew up in a Georgian-style house that my mother decorated with elegance and flair – never afraid to draw from her traditional, Southern tastes or break free from convention with bold colors and patterns. When I was about 14, she allowed me to take charge while redecorating my room. I have been hooked ever since!
WEDDINGS/EVENTS
After planning my own large-scale, dream wedding and helping my sister and friends with details for their big days, I have become something of a wedding guru. While still a beginner compared with the many talented experts out there, I am an avid frequenter of all things wedding, from blogs, web sites, and magazines to the latest with real weddings, vendors and venues. I love coming up with ideas for events of all kinds. Just recently, I started working for a modern, design-savvy company in Los Angeles that throws fabulous, themed birthday parties for kids.
ENTERTAINMENT
As a life-long lover of movies, television, music, books and theatre, I am somewhat of an entertainment junkie. I graduated with a degree in Radio, Television, Film, but I am definitely not your typical film/entertainment snob. I absolutely LOVE chick-flicks, over-the-top teen dramas, and the next trendy pop song, but I also stretch my range a little wider. After living in the live music capital of the world, working at an independent book-publishing boutique, and growing up on-stage at the local community theatre, I know that my picks will include some unique and applause-worthy finds that you will not want to miss.
INSPIRATION/WISDOM
Listening to other women’s wisdom and experiences has always motivated me to become the best woman that I can be. Growing up with amazing women role models has definitely inspired me to aim higher and spend my life generously. Despite all of the differences that can divide us, I believe that women should embrace and learn from our shared experiences. During my senior year of high school, I took a women’s literature course that completely altered my perspective and motivated me to continue reading books about and by fascinating women. I hope that I can pass along some of that inspiration to you.
